Solid Wall Insulation

Also known as IWI, Low-E Insulation is an ideal insulating the internal side of older solid wall properties. It increases performance in less space and provides a vapour control layer over the entire wall stopping any issues with damp.

Insulating a solid wall can have huge benefits but one drawback is than you can lose a considerable amount of internal floor space. Low-E Insulation is a very compact, cost-effective solution for solid walls. It is quick, clean and easy to install.

Why spend time and money installing a vapour control layer (VCL) or air infiltration barrier than has no thermal benefit? Low-E is the vapour control layer that reflects 97% radiant heat.

 

Solid Wall – Space Saving

Solid walls can be constructed of stone, brick or block. They can be difficult to upgrade and often a compromise is made between occupied floor space and efficiency achieved. Installing Low-E® EZY Seal with a plasterboard or insulated plasterboard can be the most efficient way of insulating a solid wall.

This example uses a single batten and occupies a minimum amount of space.

Solid Wall – Double Batten

In this example the wall is battened, the Low-E installed and then a counter batten. Doubling battening occupies additional space but also increases the thermal performance.

Solid Wall – Timber Frame

In this example, timber battens are fixed to the wall with rigid or fibre insulation installed between them. Low-E® EZY Seal is fixed to battens and then a counter battened installed to create a service void. The counter batten occupies additional space but also increases the thermal performance. You can remove this batten to save space if necessary.

Solid Wall – Hollow Block

In this example, timber battens are fixed to the hollow block wall with rigid or fibre insulation installed between them. Low-E® EZY Seal is fixed to battens and then a counter battened installed to create a service void. This reduces draughts and provides maximum performance in the least space possible.
